WEDDINGS @ RUTHERGLEN

John Gehrig Wines is located at 2 great North East Victorian locations. At the base of the King Valley, at the culinary cross road of the Milawa Gourmet region in Oxley, where the cellar door has river views as it is situated on the King River and our vineyard will create a day tailored for you. Or Rutherglen which has a historic shed transformed into a cellar door, outside there is the front dam or historic school yard with the vineyard in the background which would make a lovely spot for a lawn ceremony and a glass of sparkling!

The following information provides an example of what we can offer at John Gehrig Wines.
We can host functions from:
• Wedding ceremonies
• Birthdays
• Family or friends get together, even a baby shower!
• Work functions
• Christmas parties

We can cater for events anytime of the year but please be mindful Feb-April is grape harvest season and sometimes this can affect venue availability. Please enquire directly if you would like information regarding dates outside this period.

FUNCTION VENUE OPTIONS

Each area is set up for your required function and has associated cost due to set up and staffing. Below are the details.

WEDDING CEREMONY – ONLY @ Rutherglen

Our family working vineyard is a unique way to spend that special day with family and friends.

Lawn area, historic school yard & vineyard

Seated Guests: 40-80 & Standing Guests: 200+
Drinks: Bar service at cellar door
Catering: Options from local caters
Ceremony, photos on property, set up/clean down, seating as required, porta loo ( if ceremony in vineyard ) & drink service (pop up bar) – not including beverage costs: $1500

WEDDING RECEPTION – ONLY @ Rutherglen

Cellar Door – Rutherglen for larger numbers with all-weather cover!

Seated style reception inside historic cellar door Guests: Max 120 & Standing cocktail style 200+
Drinks: Table service or Bar service at cellar door
Catering: Outsourced
$2,500 for Rutherglen venue hire only (includes basic plastic chairs, tables, rubbish skip bin removal & dry cleaning of linen if used. All other required items at extra cost)

Note: if WEDDING CEREMONY + WEDDING RECEPTION at Rutherglen starting package price $3500 but if a winter wedding package ( June – August) price is $2800 ( These prices include prior planning meetings, rehearsal access and pre wedding drink service, delivery access, set up for ceremony/reception , bar service & clean down)

SMOKING

Smoking is only permitted outside NOT in the cellar door area. Please help maintain our beautiful garden areas and put your butts in the designated bins.

HEATING/COOLING FOR THE VENUE

Depending on the venue area you choose. Rutherglen has a large drum wood fire in the cellar door, but currently no cooling. If extra heating/cooling is required this will be an additional cost as we would need to hire the required equipment for the event.

LIQUOR LICENCE

John Gehrig Wines is a fully licensed venue. We supply both estate wines and locally produced beer or commercial beer of your choice. In meeting with the liquor licence requirements no alcoholic beverages to be purchased off site and consumed at John Gehrig Wines ( NO BYO). John Gehrig Wines reserves the right to serve alcoholic beverages to customers who breech liquor licence requirements such as intoxication. By law we will only serve alcohol to people who are of the legal age 18 years old. John Gehrig Wines liquor licence expires at 11pm, there will be no drinks served past this hour!

BEVERAGES

Wines are charged at cellar door prices and or tabbed according to consumption unless arranged. We will also serve beers, water, soft drink or juice as required as part of the liquor licence requirement.

DECORATIONS

Paper confetti and other items which create excessive mess are not permitted to be used at the winery. Why not use environmentally friendly decorations like rose petals, rice, bird seed or bubbles for your ceremony.
Decorations for the reception such as table centre pieces, name cards and bonbonnieres are to be supplied by the bridal party 2 days prior to the event. A seating plan to be supplied to assist with set up.

MUSIC

All audio required equipment is the bridal party’s responsibility.

LIABILITY

John Gehrig Wines will not be held liable for any breakages, loss of personal items or any unauthorized activity resulting in injury or breakages as part of the pre & post event.
If any breakages occur to John Gehrig Wines property ( inc glasses) the final account will be charged. $10 per glass and total cost of broken items.

TRANSPORT

Corowa have a local taxi service but to make it more convenient for all guests enjoying the event why not organize a bus to transfer guests back to accommodation.

PAYMENT

Deposit of $500 must be made before any date can be confirmed for your event, and then this will be deducted from your total bill once event is held.
We understand that plans change and within reasonable time period all payment (excluding deposit) are refundable.
Your full payment of the event must be made no less than 1 month prior to the chosen date. Your drinks account will be settle at the end of the event

DECLARTION

We hereby declare that we have read and understand all the information set by John Gehrig Wines to hold our event at the winery. We sign off understanding that John Gehrig Wines can change this document at anytime in the future pending a favorable outcome for all parties concerned.
